 GROUNDING EXERCISE

Grounding means as much as literally putting both feet firmly on the ground. Not everyone is grounded to equal degrees, causing all kinds of symptoms including fatigue, headaches, bowel problems, etc. – often without people being aware of the process underlying their symptoms.

 
   

Several exercises can help you ground:

Sit down comfortably in a chair; preferably one with a backrest to help you sit up straight, both feet placed  on the floor next to each other. Lay your hand on your legs, palms facing up.

Close your eyes to become more pleasantly detached from your surroundings. Right. Now breathe in deeply through your nose for about 4 or 5 seconds, and then slowly exhale. Repeat this process a few times to become more relaxed.

   

As you continue to breathe in and out slowly and deeply, you now visualise (imagine) the sun, clear and bright and warm, high up in the blue sky.

Now breathe in deeply as a broad beam of light reaches down from the sun, all the way down to the top of your head and on into your crown chakra (an energy point; visualise it as a flower unfolding). Now, as you breathe out, let all stress and negativity of that day or that week flow through your feet and dissipate into the ground, away from you.

·         Repeat this for at least ten times, or as long as you need to; the more you do it, the more time you will allow yourself to invest.

·         You may not notice anything at first, but rest assured that on repeating the exercise, you will eventually start to feel something (energy). Allow the energy to flow in from above, filling you entirely with blue-white light. Take it step by step, progressing from your head to your neck and shoulders, then on to your arms, your chest and stomach, and down through your hips, your upper legs and knees, your lower legs and ankles, and finally on to our feet. In doing so, take any negative energy (pain, emotions) along down as you go, and let them flow away through your feet, which have their own small chakras (energy points; again, imagine them as two flowers opening up and releasing the negative energies).

As soon as you have gotten the hang of this exercise, you can expand upon it if you like. Simply practice the exercise as described above, and as soon as you let the energy flow in, allow a portion of the that bluish-white light to exit through your solar plexus chakra (this energy point is located just below your chest and above your navel, right in between the two), and visualise your aura (an oval energy field surrounding us) filling up with this blue-white light; you could add a touch of gold which is nice, but blue represents a healing colour. Keep doing this until you are completely enveloped by light.

·         The energy field around you will grant you strength as it protects you, preventing negative influences from affecting you. You emanate power and love now, which will be returned to you in greater force, as what you give will come back to you. This does include negativity, however, so it would appear that sending out positive energy is a better idea than emitting negative energy, don’t you agree?

·         I can personally feel these energies as a warm tingling or tickling sensation, which is a very pleasant experience for me.

·         You will notice that as you practice these techniques more often, your grounding will improve. Some will immediately sense the flow of energy, while others may require a few breaths first, and yet other will have to completed the whole cycle a few times, so be patient, it will come eventually – after all, we didn’t learn how to ride a bicycle in one go either, have we?
